Florida Memorial University (FMU), South Florida’s only Historically Black University, recently highlighted its top scholars during its annual Honors and Awards Day celebration. The event highlights the academic achievements of students and scholarship recipients from the prior academic year. Each academic department also selected a student as its Outstanding Scholar.
Randy James, Ph.D., chairman of the program committee, commended the honorees, “Each year we pause to salute our best and brightest students. It’s important that we highlight their accomplishments. We want to showcase their successes and encourage them to continue performing at a high level.”
James added: “Many of our honorees are first generation college students. So, this is a family accomplishment.”
