Homecoming at North Carolina A&T is on track to feel less like a campus event and more like a full‑scale city takeover this fall.
How bigger can The Greatest Homecoming on Earth get?
University officials expect attendance to surge past 200,000 people for the school’s centennial celebration.
In 2024, homecoming week drew a documented 132,000 attendees, according to the university. Last fall, A&T officials say the festivities helped drive nearly 175,000 homecoming weekend visits to downtown restaurants, bars and other businesses, turning the celebration into one of the Piedmont Triad’s most important annual economic engines.
“We expect attendance to surpass 200,000 this fall, making North Carolina A&T homecoming a major economic shot in the arm for the Piedmont Triad just as we approach the winter holidays,” said Vice Chancellor for University Advancement Tamara Michel Josserand.
Local business owners are already circling homecoming week on their calendars, preparing for the rush of alumni, students, family and fans who pack hotels, crowd sidewalks and fill venues across the city, Josserand said.
University leaders say the swelling crowds are no accident. This year’s homecoming doubles as a 100th‑anniversary milestone, and organizers are leaning into the moment with added experiences meant to draw in generations of Aggies.
“You only turn 100 once, and we plan to make the most of it this fall,” said Alumni Relations Associate Vice Chancellor Crystal W. Boyce. “As we celebrate a century of memories, achievements, and Aggie pride, we look forward to bringing generations of Aggies together for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
To build momentum, the university has launched an online trivia contest, “100 Days ’til Homecoming,” inviting fans to test their knowledge of North Carolina A&T’s history and milestones. The contest, along with details on other centennial homecoming features, is available on the university’s homecoming website.
For Aggies alums, it means something more: a chance to be part of a crowd unlike any other in A&T history, filling the city with blue and gold as the university turns its 100th homecoming into its biggest one yet.
