Levoyd Williams is running for State Representative District 94
    By staff writer

Levoyd Williams, City Commissioner of Lauderdale Lakes, is announcing his candidacy for District 94 State Representative.

Volunteers, elected officials and residents have encouraged Levoyd to enter the race for this seat which is currently held by Perry Thurston who has termed limited out.

Levoyd says that he will meet with homeowner associations and elected officials to express his position on issues and will be asking for their input on the issues that they think will make this district a better place to live.
With over 12 years experience as a city commissioner Williams has been a positive influence in the revitalization and financial recovery of his city. He feels that he understands the needs of his district and is willing to work hard to bring all communities together.
Williams sees education, jobs, housing and transportation as the main interest on which to  focus.  “My top priority will be to work within the legislature to  pass laws that will enhance these four areas.”

Levoyd has served two years as Chairman of the Broward County Planning Council and five years as the Chairman of the Broward Black Elected Officials.  He has been  a member of the Broward Leagues of Cities for 12 years where he served as chairperson of the Education Committee. This is a non-partisan group of elected officials and business people representing the 31 cities in Broward County.  He also serves on the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization which involves issues  with roads and transportation.
“My colleagues, Commissioners Edwina Coleman, Eric Haynes, Eileen Rathery and Vice-Mayor Patricia Williams  have endorsed me.”
