Miami-Dade County Public Schools is expanding its free After-School Meals Program, adding W.R. Thomas Middle School as a new meal site began Sept. 1.
The school, located at 13001 SW 26th St. in Miami, will join more than 285 schools across the district participating in the program.
The After-School Meals Program, part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Child Care Food Program, provides nutritious meals to children who take part in eligible educational or enrichment activities after school.
M-DCPS said meals must meet USDA nutritional requirements and include fresh fruits and vegetables.
Meals are available at no separate charge to children enrolled in eligible after-school care programs or Saturday Academy at participating locations. The program is offered without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age.
Families seeking information about meal availability at W.R. Thomas Middle School should contact the school directly.
The district also said newly established after-school educational or enrichment programs and Saturday Academies that begin during the 2026-27 school year may request meals for participating students through the M-DCPS Department of Food and Nutrition.
