My Tribute to My Beautiful Little Big Sister Betty Wright

Dr. Phillip Wright, Sr.

By Dr. Phillip Leno Wright, Ph.D.

In my reflecting on the first 3 days of my sister Betty’s life when I was only 8-years old, she actually tried to talk  me into using  syllables in her voice after I placed her on her back in her crib. I immediately ran down stairs and said to my mother, that baby “Betty” was going to be famous and known all over the world.  Moving forward as Betty got older, we started to practice with her singing while I played the guitar in the washhouse in the Liberty Square Housing Development. In life she continued growing in her belief in God.

I remember how she developed with the spirit of God within her as our mother Rosa had taught all of us. Betty was ordained as a minister years later and started a Bible Study every Thursday at her home called Thankful Thursdays. During her lifetime she had a passion to help many others during her concerts and in her personal life too.   She inspired, uplifted, and motivated everyone she met to move forward with their belief in God and to always remember to help others. She expressed from her heart much about life in her music. As her third eldest brother, I will miss her deeply, but I remember her as she was in her life living – singing, and praying to our Holy Precious Heavenly Father God and Jesus.

As her Band Leader  during a short time in my life,  all of us In the band would pray with Betty before we would board every airplane   flight,  creating a circle holding hands and praying together for our safety and protection from God. When all of us would arrive at the venue to perform our concert, we would once again pray and give thanks to God for Protecting us after arriving at our flight destination. I resolved to believe that Betty was sent here on earth to do just what she shared with the entire world, and to make her final stage exit only to return to the arms of our Holy Precious Heavenly Father  All Mighty God. I feel and I believe she had completed her mission here on earth, so I must except God’s will.

Many times, when a love one has been injured or is medically ill and we pray for them to be healed and saved, we must remember that even so, we cannot change the will of God. Thy Will Be Done.

I know where my Little Big sister is now. She is in the arms of our Holy Precious Heavenly father God.

I will always remember you forever.  Rest In Peace Jean.  My Beautiful Little Big Sister. I will always remember what I learned from you too.

This is my tribute to you my Beautiful Little Big sister Betty Wright.

     From your Big Brother Phillip
