The incident occurred during a gathering to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Details regarding the motive and the identity of the shooter are yet to be disclosed. Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, providing medical assistance and securing the area. The injured individuals were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. This unfortunate event cast a shadow over what should have been a day of joy and unity, emphasizing the ongoing challenges in ensuring safety and security during public gatherings. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
