      ALLYSON WATSON has been named provost/vice president for academic affairs at Florida A&M University. Watson came to FAMU in 2019 as dean of the College of Education and has served as interim provost/vice president for academic affairs since December.

DIANE WHITMORE SCHANZENBACH has been named by the University of Florida as senior advisor to the president for academic excellence and associate provost. Schanzenbach is director of the Institute for Policy Research and the Margaret Walker Alexander Professor of Human Development and Social Policy at Northwestern University.

SCOTT ANGLE has been named interim provost at the University of Florida. Angle is the university’s senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources.

MICHELLE KAZMER has been named dean of the College of Communication and Information at Florida State University. Kazmer is a professor and became the college’s associate dean for academic affairs and faculty advancement in 2018.

LALY JOSEPH has been named dean of the Ann Blanton Edwards School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida Southern College. Joseph most recently served as interim dean and professor at the Phillips School of Nursing at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City.

BRANDON RAFOOL has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a judge in the 10th Judicial Circuit, which is made up of Hardee, Highlands and Polk counties. Rafool, of Winter Haven, has served as a Polk County judge since 2021.

JASON RODRIGUEZ AND JOHN LEARN have received promotions at BayCare Health System. Rodriguez has been promoted to director of government relations after serving as state government relations manager. Learn has been promoted to government relations manager after serving as government relations strategist.

BARRY BAKER has been installed as the 2023-2024 president of the organization Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers. Baker is the Suwannee County clerk of the circuit court and comptroller.

DAVID EICHENBAUM has been elected president of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology. Eichenbaum has practiced in the Tampa Bay region since 2007 and is a vitreous and retina disease specialist.

ROGELIO TOVAR has been elected chairman of the Florida International University Board of Trustees. Tovar is president and chairman of RT Holdings.

ALEXANDRIA SUAREZ has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to The College of the Florida Keys Board of Trustees. Suarez is an assistant state attorney in the 16th Judicial Circuit.

STEFANIE INK EDWARDS, GINA EVANS DEW AND JESSICA HAYS have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida Commission on Community Service, also known as Volunteer Florida. Ink Edwards is chief executive officer of Community Cooperative. Evans Dew is director of government and community relations for the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. Hays is president and chief executive officer of Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center, Inc.

CHRISTY BRODEUR, LORI KILLINGER AND WILSON ROBERTS have been reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida Commission on Community Service, also known as Volunteer Florida. Brodeur is a partner at Ballard Partners, Inc. and is a former secretary of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. Killinger is an executive shareholder of Lewis, Longman & Walker, P.A. Roberts is a student at the University of Florida.

STEPHEN BLACK, NICOLE DE LARA PUENTE, SHAYE MOSKOWITZ AND AKRAM SHIBANI have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Biomedical Research Advisory Council. Black, of Port St. Lucie, is chairman of Florida International University’s Department of Cellular Biology & Pharmacology and is associate dean for research at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. De Lara Puente, of Miami, is chief executive officer of the Live Like Bella Foundation. Moskowitz, of Lighthouse Point, is a neuroscience medical director at Broward Health. Shibani, of Ponte Vedra Beach, is a physician at Ascension Medical Group.
