Dexter-Carswellthis-oneRed Eye Entertainment : Shaping the community through entertainment and giving back

    By Dierra Wright

Local community mogul and founder of Red Eye Entertainment, Dexter Carswell, originally from Macon, Ga now residing in Fort Lauderdale, FL where he is notorious throughout the community for his growing events and the impact he is making on the youth and the entertainment industry. Carswell, prides himself on targeting events for today’s youth that would largely be impactful in a positive way, ultimately helping reduce violence in existing communities.

Carswell originally founded Red Eye Entertainment record label in 1999. The name Red Eye Entertainment was originally paying homage to one of Carswell’s late artists who he managed that was in a group called ‘Red Eye Click’. “Red Eye signifies the ‘fire in your eye’- the drive and determination to succeed,” said Carswell.

Carswell created Red Eye Entertainment with hopes of being more involved with the youth and the community, including giving out scholarships and mentoring. Now Red Eye Entertainment specializes in artist development, promoting, branding, producing and recently venturing off into creating films.

Some of the most recent events that were promoted and planned by Red Eye Entertainment held in the South Florida region was The 61st Anniversary of the city of Miramar, where Carswell produced and promoted the entire event with guest performances such as DMX, Headkrack from the ‘Rickey Smiley Morning Show’ and the Special S band.

By continuously making his vision come to life, Carswell recently held a Teen Summit at Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale. The event  assembled roughly hundreds of teens, which aided in mentorship and setting future goals for the surrounding youth.

With the new school year right around the corner, Carswell is hosting a free event for back to school on Saturday Aug 20th from 10am-2pm called ‘Family Fun Day  and Summer Splash Down’ located at 951 NW 27th Ave at McNair Park in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Featured performances for the event are B.OB Artist’s Havi, Que, Katie Steele, T-Pain’s Artist Tay Dizm, Red Eye Entertainment’s artist Kevin Cameron and rapper Kolyon who recently signed to rapper Lil Boosie along with many others.

Carswell is currently looking for volunteers, vendors, and donations of backpacks and school supplies. If you would like to help in anyway please feel free to contact him at www.facebook.com/redeyeentertainment
