Rick Ross Gives Son His Own Wingstop Franchise as A 16th Birthday Gift

 By Ryan Steal

Through the years, Black people have shifted to opening businesses for the sake of building up wealth for their families and future generations. Rick Ross is just one among the many Black business owners who’re seeking to set their children up for success.

On that note, the Miami-based rapper had a gift for his son’s 16 birthday. He handed down his Wingstop restaurant to his son on his special day and asked his millions of followers on Instagram to wish his son a happy 16 birthday as he congratulated him for being the new owner of his first Wingstop restaurant.

“Everyone wishes my son @mmgbigbank HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY!!!” he captioned the post. “Today, he became the owner of his 1st @wingstop franchise. [You’re] now officially a BOSS!!! Keep Going,” the Port of Miami 2 emcee wrote on Instagram.

Ross launched his first Wingstop franchise in Memphis, Tennessee back in 2011. He recently launched Thighstop to make it remain competitive amid the wide shortage of chicken wings in the country.

“Thighstop is a digital brand that allows customers to order from the newly launched menu through a website where the thighs can be picked up or delivered through DoorDash. According to the website, eleven Thighstop flavors, which are handcrafted with sides and dips, can be selected with or without the bones,” according to the Black Enterprise.

According to sources, Ross now owns more than 25 Wingstop restaurants across the country. The 45-year-old rapper also “signed on as an equity partner, adviser, and spokesperson for Jetdoc, a digital healthcare platform that connects people with a licensed healthcare professional within minutes,” says the outlet.

During an interview with Complex over the summer, Ross spoke about his love and unwavering support for Wingstop and why he thinks everyone should know about it.

Ross also spoke about his passion for being a Wingstop franchisee, which wasn’t impeded by his lack of experience.

“When I went and sat down with the CEO, Charlie Morrison, he knew I had no experience being a franchisee. He knew I didn’t have the time sitting in a franchise, but he saw my vision and my passion. He opened the doors for me. He didn’t just let me follow my dreams. He let me go to that next level,” said the Miami native.
