TALLAHASSEE, FL. — On January 27, the Trump Administration announced a pause on all federal aid programs, encompassing both grants and loans. This affects everything from students applying for financial aid for the next school year to seniors dependent on food stamps.

In response, Representative Daryl Campbell (D-Fort Lauderdale) issued the following statement: “I completely condemn this move by the Trump Administration. This arbitrary ‘pause’ has no end date and will prevent the constituents I serve from receiving the benefits they deserve with no justification whatsoever. This reckless and shortsighted action will prevent seniors and families from receiving their SNAP benefits, harming local businesses in the process, while potentially dashing the college dreams of young people who depend on financial aid to go to college and could see their dreams crumble. No one deserves to go hungry or to have their lives destroyed, but in the false name of DEI and renewable energy, this Administration is targeting our most vulnerable. I strongly oppose this misuse of power and will continue working to ensure my constituents receive the benefits they are entitled to.”
