     Former first lady Michelle Obama has led several global initiatives surrounding education, and she wants to ensure that the youth are connected to literature amid the coronavirus lockdown. According to CNN, she is launching a virtual weekly storytime series for children.
JoâVianni Smith, a 15-year old girl from California who loved playing softball, has reportedly committed suicide after struggling to cope with being isolated during the lockdown imposed during the coronavirus pandemic.
The global COVID-19 pandemic has all Americans feeling financially burdened, but more African Americans are being affected as there are currently more than 20 million unemployment claims across the country. Experts say that Black unemployment could eventually be as high as 30%, but one web site, BlackJobs.com, is helping to solve the problem.

To actively encourage Black youth to focus on being counted in the 2020 Decennial Census, despite the Coronavirus (COVID 19) global pandemic, the National Coalition on Black Civic Participationâs (NCBCP) Black Youth Vote (BYV!) youth civic leadership and power-building program and its Unity Diaspora Coalition (UDC) 2020 Campaignâs national and state-based partner organizations will launch â#CountMeBlack Youth Census 2020 Week (Count Me Black Youth Week),â Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 1, 2020.
    Recently, Congresswoman Wilson announced that Florida will receive $173,585,880 million in emergency education funding as a result of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that Congress passed last month. The funding comes from the Governorâs Emergency Edu-cation Relief (GEER) Fund, which allocates nearly $3 billion for governors to use at their discretion to support their stateâs K-12 and higher education needs related to COVID-19.
    PHILADEPHIA, PA â Dr. Ala Stanford and other African American doctors (mostly women) from Pennsylvania have launched the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium to provide free mobile coronavirus testing to underserved communities in hopes to prevent further spread of the virus, especially among Black people.
