New coronavirus cases continue to increase across the US. Cases are rising across the entire country. The average number of new cases is 47,000 per day, a 51% increase over the last two weeks.

The Haitian American Nurses Association has been serving our community for over 37 years. They chose to honor Dr. Barbara Sharief with the association’s Leadership Excellence Award.

“My heart is heavy today as the Governor signs into law an unconstitutional Congressional Redistricting map into effect. My heart aches because it is blatantly obvious that these maps are aimed at suppressing Black voting power in Florida. It’s the slashing of 50% of protected Black districts and the ultimate regression of our state back to a time before the Reconstruction era in the 1800s,” said Representative Daryl Campbell (D-Ft. Lauderdale) in response to the Governor signing his own proposed congressional district map into law.

The Broward County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. (BCAC-DST), in partnership with Delta Education and Life Development Foundation Inc. (DELDF), will host its 44th Annual May Week Program.  May Week is a national program initiative designed to spotlight the scholastic achievement of high school students and emphasize the importance of higher education in our community.  

      Tennis powerhouse Serena Williams has been a fierce advocate for equity within the realm of sports and beyond, and she’s furthering her efforts to ensure individuals from underrepresented groups have a seat at the table across different industries. For her latest project, Williams has joined forces with the cloud technology platform Karat to increase the representation of Black engineers in tech.
