In a soft-spoken voice, 11-year-old Aderrien Murry told ABC’s Good Morning America the heart-wrenching details of the night he nearly lost his life by the hands of a police officer. The boy was shot and injured by a responding officer after dialing 911 for help.

The Orange Blossom Classic Committee organized the kick-off press conference to also announce a strategic alliance with the Recording Academy Black Music Collective. “It’s my absolute pleasure to announce that the Recording Academy Black Music Collective and the Orange Blossom Classic have formed an alliance to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their bands”, explained via video, Recording Academy Black Music Collective Chair, Rico Love. “Our first initiative is to celebrate HBCU bands during Black Music Month, highlighting their talent and cultural significance. Our goal is to amplify their voices and promote their achievements. We are excited to collaborate with the Orange Blossom Classic Committee on this exciting project”.
A high school graduate from Oklahoma is suing the district where she previously attended school because she claims administrators there forbade her from wearing a holy eagle plume on her graduation hat. The case, which was filed last week in Tulsa County by attorneys for the student, Lena’ Black, against Broken Arrow Public Schools and two district workers, centers on an encounter that happened last year just before graduation.

The U.S. Constitution only stipulates the following three formal qualification for anyone seeking to run for the most powerful and demanding position in the world: 1) the individual must be a naturalized born American citizen, 2) must be at least thirty-five years old, and 3) must have been a resident of the United States for at least fourteen years.

To Millions of people all over the world live this story every day, and have been impacted by HIV in some way since the AIDS outbreak in 1981. Thirty years, it remains one of the most challenging and polarizing topics, specifically in the African American community. Our Story serves to address the topic of AIDS to begin the healing of Black communities and come together sharing information and understanding.

My wife Sonia and I were aware that our neighborhood restaurant, Betty’s Soul Food, after a complete and thorough renovation, had reopened for business, but until this past today, we hadn’t patronized. I suppose that, like us, many persons were just beginning to feel comfortable enough to return to some degree of normalcy after the Covid pandemic to venture in the public arena.
