    Broward County Florida News

Mary Hall began her career in the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office on May 4, 1986, exactly 35 years ago today. Ms. Hall has built personal and professional relationships throughout Broward County and abroad as she has carried out her duties and responsibilities in the Supervisor of Elections Office. Throughout the span of her career, she has experienced and witnessed elections history.  Perhaps, most notable, the 2000 United States presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore. The election became known for hanging chads and the butterfly ballot. Broward and other Florida counties were under a worldwide microscope as the vote was ultimately settled in Bush’s favor when the U.S. Supreme Court stopped the recount and Bush won by a narrow margin of 537 votes. Mary Hall is committed to being active and involved in community service and to promoting diversity and inclusion as she has managed many elections as the population in Broward County has rapidly increased and technology has rapidly advanced. BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BROWARD COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS:  That the Board hereby designates May 4, 2021 as “MARY HALL APPRECIATION DAY” in Broward County, Florida.
