The Westside Gazette Newspaper is honored to feature these editorial contributions made by local students.

Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, demanded an executive order, which stated that if schools do not make masks optional and uplift the mask mandate in school, he will cut funding to schools.

To cut funding and making it optional for students to wear masks can cause parents to take their children out of a public school and put them in a private school.

This is quite interesting, simply because Governor DeSantis’ friends are owners of private schools.

Students are in person and not virtual, which causes schools to need most of the money they have in their budget. The upkeep of schools is expensive, along with paying all staff and funding all clubs and sports.

Many who are political authority figures seem to care more about money and politics than people. Their political authority is affecting their morals and principles, which affects the people of America.

Schools should have the choice to decide the mask mandate.

Governor DeSantis does not know the logistics or statistics of all schools in Broward County, but the schools do, and that is a more logical and ethical decision.

Schools should have the choice to decide the mask mandate.
