    May is Foster Care Month

“What better way to serve our youth in Foster Care than to collect luggage, duffle bags and backpacks for their successful transition towards graduation and for independent living”, according to Mr. Lamont Summersett, President of the North Carolina Central University South Florida Alumni Association.  The event is the brainchild of Broward County Circuit Judge, Michael A. Robinson.  When the idea was shared with NCCUSFAA members, the alumni members were excited to host and sponsor the event, which was held a Broward Mall in Plantation.  The NCCU Alumni delivered 625 pieces of luggage, duffle bags and backpacks.  NCCU alumnus Paula “Candi” DeWitt co-coordinated the event and was charged with getting additional sponsors. Judge Robinson, Ms. DeWitt and Mr. Summersett would like to thank the following sponsors and participants:

“Our goal is help as many of our young people as we can”, said Judge Robinson.

Let’s do it again next year in May !
