Doorstep Delivery – A unique and innovative restaurant delivery service

    By Sylvesvter Robinson

Tonya Heard and Ben Joseph met at Stranahan High School in the early 2000’s. A budding friendship rapidly blossomed into an endearing relationship based on love, trust, mutual respect and faith. Tonya and Ben both shared similar goals academically and romantically so both matriculated to Tallahassee, Tonya to Tallahassee Community College and Ben to FAMU. After two years or so, Ben, Jr. unexpectedly appeared, briefly interrupting their educational goals. Determined, however, to complete school, Tonya found her way to FAU after obtaining her Associate of Arts degree from TCC. In 2009 she graduated from FAU with a Communications degree.

Ben played football briefly before completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, intent on becoming a Secret Service agent. Eventually education became a passion for both, Tonya having worked as a substitute teacher under the leadership of Linda Thomas, principal former of Whiddon-Rogers Educational Center, while Ben very quickly and adroitly became a full -time teacher and basketball coach at Olsen Middle School.

A second child, a beautiful little baby girl name Bailee, came along, forcing them to contemplate seriously their pa-rental and financial responsibilities with this ever expanding family.

Soon thereafter Tonya and Ben – a bold move steeped in faith- as a way to secure future financial stability.

Tonya states, “The competitive challenges that (Door-step) will face, its initial growth and success will determine its survival well beyond its inception. Although the decision was difficult as they had other options, this enterprise is proving so far to be the right choice, made easier because they’ve developed a passion for entrepreneurship, realizing the hard work, dedication and sacrifice needed to be successful.
