“Living Healthy Before, During and After a Cancer Diagnosis”

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL– March 9, 2024- Empowered To Thrive, Inc will host its inaugural event, “Living Healthy Before, During and After A Cancer Diagnosis”. This event is designed to inform, inspire, and empower all women, especially women of color who have been diagnosed with cancer, to thrive and achieve optimal wellness. Empowered To Thrive, Inc., a 501 ©3 non-profit organization, was founded to assist these women to thrive and achieve optimal health and wellness, particularly after a cancer diagnosis. Our goal is to provide education, resources, and services to optimize wellness and improve the quality of their lives.
This event will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, 10:00 am- 1:00 pm at the L A Lee YMCA on Sistrunk Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Please join us as we hear from noted speakers in the community on mental health, nutrition, and integrative medicine. There will be vendors focused on health and wellness as well as refreshments for attendees. This is a free event open to the public. The Foundation is so very proud to sow into the lives of women who have battled and are focused on thriving through this horrible disease.
Empowered To Thrive, Inc was founded by Deetra Sands Durham, a native of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Her cancer story is so very compelling and inspirational to others. Deetra Durham is a thriver of Stage 4 ovarian cancer. She was diagnosed in November 2014. Her journey has been plagued with potholes, roadblocks, and setbacks but she has been and remains committed to waging war against cancer. The old cliché “your test becomes your testimony” is very applicable in her life. She states, “I am so blessed to have survived and become a thriver, my pain has become my passion and my purpose, I desire to help as many women as I can, in any way I can.”

Unfortunately, the fact remains that even if you have not personally experienced a cancer diagnosis, statistics show you certainly have a family member or friend who has.
