FORT LAUDERDALE, FL– In a historic decision, the City of Fort Lauderdale has appointed Rickelle Williams as its first Black female City Manager, following a unanimous 5-0 vote by the city commission. Williams, who previously served as the Economic Development Director for the City of Miami Beach, brings a wealth of experience in urban planning and economic development to her new role.
Throughout a rigorous selection process, Williams distinguished herself with her comprehensive approach and vision for the city’s future. Her appointment is anticipated to usher in a fresh perspective, emphasizing equity, inclusivity, and sustainable growth across all communities in Fort Lauderdale.
The Westside Gazette highlighted Williams’ emergence as the leading candidate, noting her exceptional expertise and vision, which secured unanimous approval from all seven panelists involved in the selection process.
As she steps into her new position, Williams is expected to focus on addressing the diverse needs of Fort Lauderdale’s residents, aiming to build a stronger and more inclusive community.
