NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Chief Machinist’s Mate Gilbert Laguerre, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) engineering department, returns the salutes of Ford’s chiefs mess as he is piped ashore. Ford is currently undergoing its post-shakedown availability at Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding.
