    Military Veterans win cooking competition against NFL Players

    On Wednesday, January 29th, United Way of Broward County and OAD Healthcare held a Master Chef Healthy Kitchen Cook-Off event with Washington Redskins player Kenny Ladler, New England Patriots player Phillip Dorsett and other NFL Players and Military Veterans at Allied Kitchen & Bath. More than 75 local notables watched as they cooked simple, yet healthy meals to bring awareness to the importance of mental health wellness and healthy lifestyles.

    During the cook-off, seven Military Veterans competed against NFL Players including Kenny Ladler, Washington Redskins; Phillip Dorsett, New England Patriots; Deon Lacey, Miami Dolphins; Jaylen Watkins, LA Chargers; and Stephen Weatherly, Minnesota Vikings.

    Guests enjoyed an evening of entertainment, mixing and mingling with pro-athletes and enjoyed light bites provided by Lenore Nolan Ryan Catering & Cooking.  Kathleen Cannon, President/CEO of United Way of Broward County and Bill Feinberg, Owner of Allied Kitchen & Bath gave inspiring speeches about the importance of supporting healthy habits among our Military Veterans and youth athletes. Mercedes Dericho, Founder/CEO of OAD Healthcare shared with guests about the launch of OAD Healthcare, a non-profit organization that renders mental health treatment to military veterans and individuals in underserved communities. The hungry and discerning foodie judges of the evening included Kip Hunter, Founder & CEO of Kip Hunter Marketing, Bill Feinberg, Owner of Allied Kitchen & Bath and Tracey Holmes from United Way Worldwide.

    Proceeds from the event benefited United Way of Broward County’s MISSION UNITED and the upcoming Eat-To-Play Hands-On Cooking event for young athletes in Atlanta, Georgia in Summer of 2020. Sponsors Included Allied Kitchen & Bath, Publix and Lenore Nolan Ryan Catering & Cooking School.
