This January, I am going to the Bahamas on a mission trip with my school. While we are there, we will be helping children who are in orphanages, and those who are disabled. We will be playing with the kids,  praying for anyone we can, and leading others to Christ. However, in order to go on this trip, we need to raise $800.

When I first heard this news, I was shocked, because I knew I couldn’t make all this money by myself. I was doubtful that I would be able to raise all this money, so I prayed at the beginning of the year that God would help me reach this goal. I knew God would help me, but I also knew I had to do some work, and not just sit back and relax. Afterall, faith without works is dead.

Our school gave us a couple of opportunities to earn money for this trip. One opportunity involved coming out to the school on a Friday afternoon and selling concessions. As soon as I heard this, I knew I wanted to do it, and I helped out. It was an enjoyable experience because I was able to spend time with my friends and help raise money for my trip. Although that gave me some money, it was not enough to go on the trip.

My school also helped me to fundraise by setting up a personalized donation page. I sent a link to my page, using text messages and emails to my family and friends asking for contributions. I was shocked to see how much they all helped so much. I knew they would help donate, but they gave more than enough, and I am truly grateful.

I would like to end by saying thank you to all the people who helped me reach my goal. You really impacted me because you showed that you cared enough to send me to the Bahamas, and that is really kind. In January, I am going on this trip, and I will give you an update on how everything was, and how the Lord blessed me.
