    AKAAKAdemic Foundation, Inc. announces the scholarship recipients —The AKAdemic Foundation, Inc. announces the recipients of its eighth Annual Scholarship Awards who have been selected to receive awards up to $1000, in aid for the 2014-2015 collegiate academic years. The Scholarship Sip was held on May 17, 2014 at the Jim Ward Community Center in Plantation. This year’s Scholarship Sip was co-chaired by Dr. Caranita (Kim) Rhone and Marqueta James. The students, some of which will be attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and private colleges, represent some of Broward County’s prestigious public and private schools. Pictured is  Zeta Rho Omega Chapter President of the AKAdemic  Foundation,  E. Pearl Covington Maloney  and and Chapter President Joe Ann Fletcher and  Corresponding Secretary, Vernika Blakely Simmons, the program  speaker-presider with the Class of 2014  recipients from Execu-Prep, the Broward County Public Schools, and  the private schools in the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., areas.
