POMPANO BEACH, FL—Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Kappa Kappa Omega Chapter, is thrilled to announce that Mayor Rex Hardin of Pompano Beach has awarded Kappa Kappa Omega with a proclamation for Women’s History Month in recognition of our commitment to service and community involvement.
This prestigious honor highlights our dedication to briefly explaining the purpose or mission of our_ sorority, such as empowerment, philanthropy, and community service.

Over the past 50 years, we have engaged in numerous initiatives, including food and book bag giveaways, special projects, events, scholarships, and community service activities, which have positively impacted our community and fellow residents.
Mayor Rex Hardin and Commissioner Beverly Perkins presented a proclamation during a special commission meeting on March 25, 2025, at Pompano City Hall. He appreciated the chapter’s contributions in his speech and encouraged continued partnership in community improvement efforts.
Chapter President Beverly Kelly-Swann shared, “We are deeply honored to receive this award. It inspires us to continue our work and strive for excellence in serving our community. We believe in unity and look forward to making an even more significant impact together.” It was an honor to have two of our charter members in attendance: Millicent Sworn, a 75-year member, and Deborah Roberts, a 50-year member.
As we celebrate this achievement, we remain committed to our mission and we are excited about our future initiatives, including “Our first Gorgeous In Green Gala” which will be held on September 21, 2025.
