The Zeta Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., held its Second Annual White Party on Sept. 24. The event helped raise funds on behalf of Kids in Distress. Fraternity members from throughout South Florida joined with friends and family as they “partied with a purpose” at the lavish affair, on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

“The Zeta Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has a long standing commitment to serving the children, African-American males of Broward County.  Throughout the long history of our chapter we have offered programs such as Men of Tomorrow which prepares high school boys for college and Project Alpha which is a one day seminar on sexual awareness and teen pregnancy prevention,” said Keathan Frink, president of Zeta Alpha Lambda Chapter.

“Zeta Alpha Lambda wanted to reach those youth who are considered at risk, abused and in foster care.  So we partnered with Kids in Distress and hosted our Second White Party to raise funds so they can provide the necessary services to those children.  The party was a tremendous success, and we are grateful to our sponsors and guests for their support,” added Frink.

“KID is extremely grateful for the partnership we have created over the past two years with the Zeta Alpha Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha,” said Mark Dhooge, KID CEO. “Their annual White Party was a tremendous success, raising more than $10,000 to help support KID’s community-based programs like Foster Care and Adoption, Coordinated Family Services, and our Family Counseling Center. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of South Florida’s children.”

The White Party offered a variety of entertainment, gourmet food, a silent auction which featured sports memorabilia, and a massage therapist.
