According to the Governorâs Office of Student Achievement, K-12 Student Discipline Dashboard, the data suggests Black students have been treated unfairly when consequences are meted out for attendance incidents. This has occurred even though Black students had less attendance related incidents than White students.

Madelyn McClarey graduated from Florida A&M University on May 4 with a degree in English and a minor in education. Her twin sons, Aaron and Aubrey Hough, both earned scholarships to FAMU which led McClarey to take a leave of absence from her job and come to Tallahassee to go to school with them.
    Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade is once again offering exciting summer fun during its 2019 Summer Program for area youth, starting Monday, June 10 through Friday, August 2, 2019. Registration is now open and children will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is filled.

How strong is our economy? It is undoubtedly stronger than it was a year ago, but itâs not as strong as some claim that it is. Labor market weaknesses and inequality are of particular concern to African Americans. Companies are hiring, but they arenât hiring enough African Americans to close the unemployment rate gap. There is legislation that might improve the economic status of African Americans. HR 7, the Paycheck Fairness Act, would provide remedies to close the gender pay gap.
