In 2022, Darius V. Daughtry, one of South Florida’s best-known poets, authors, directors and educators, presented a stage reading of Seeking, where he explored a journey of self-discovery in the midst of an everchanging world. Now he brings his well-received work to the stage in this new full production with performances on Friday, July 26 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 27 at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.   

Obviously, this commentary is skipping the happy talk.

     Israel’s army is preparing to expand the war into Lebanon, where it would face a heavily armed foe very different from Hamas—many more fighters and a huge missile and drone arsenal that could overwhelm Israel’s Iron Dome defenses.

       Building 15 will now be known as the Ms. Earnestine Price Leadership Center, while FISH #401 will be renamed the Ms. Lillian Greaves Health & Wellness Room. This decision reflects the board’s appreciation for the contributions and impact of these two individuals on the community.

       But that’s probably not happening: Trump has a shaky past with Philadelphia. He didn’t win the popular vote in the 2016 or 2020 elections. In 2018, he uninvited the city’s NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles, to the White House after many of the Super Bowl champions declined Trump’s invitation. The former president has also insinuated that “bad things” happen in the mostly Black city.

       Though it’s taken years for Diddy to accumulate enough wealth to qualify him as a billionaire, it “We are most proud of the transformation that our teams will experience as they shift from being employees to owners of the business they are helping to build. Black culture is global culture, and REVOLT’s superpower is being the home for creators that move culture globally, allowing us to build the most powerful storytelling engine for Black voices,” said Revolt CEO Detavio Samuels at the time.

   Congratulations to the 19 graduating high school seniors who each received a $1,000 scholarship from the Zeta Chi Ques. I am so grateful to the significant number of my riders who bought tickets from me to support our Mardi Gras event that raised most of the money for these scholarships. I promise you all that l’ d update you on the work we are able to do because of your support. This is my public thanks to each of you!

This achievement marks a significant milestone in their academic and professional journey. We celebrate their hard work and dedication and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in their chosen field.
