The annual Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) competition will return to the main stage for the NAACP’s 114th National Convention in Boston. The ACT-SO competition is the culmination of a year’s worth of local programs hosted by NAACP branches across the country, which brings mentoring and scholastic enrichment to youth while fostering community, achievement, and excellence within Black communities.

   The NCAA has sought legislative action from Washington since losing its NIL case, and the early returns are promising for the organization. According to the discussion draft, bill would “set a national NIL policy, preempts most if not all state NIL laws, creates an NIL database for transparency and even grants the NCAA authority to create rules to enforce provisions in the Act while affording the association a degree of legal protection.”

The harrowing video shows 23-year-old Jadarrius Rose obeying orders from troopers to get on his knees and keep his hands in the air. Despite complying with the commands, Rose became the victim of a police dog attack, further fueling concerns about law enforcement’s excessive use of force.
