In 1971, a local newspaper published a story that misquoted Levi Henry, Jr. Mr. Henry went to the editor and asked him to correct the statement. Recognizing that the newspaper had other intent which seemed more interested in placating  their well-connected “friends” than reporting the truth or shedding a light on issues that impacted his community, Levi Henry Jr. established the Westside Gazette to be such a platform for telling the truth and sharing the positive stories about Black people.
