     It’s no secret that cycling is an overwhelmingly white and Caucasian sport. In fact, a recent survey from USA Cycling, the national governing body of the cycling sport,  found that 86% of its members identify as white or Caucasian, while only 3% identified as Black or African American.

      Lovie Smith took over the mantle of Houston Texans head coach after watching the organization fire his former boss, David Culley, after just one year. Now, he’s experienced the same fate.

     Devin Willock, a 20-year-old offensive lineman, and Chandler LeCroy, a 24-year-old recruiting staffer and UGA graduate, died after the Ford Expedition LeCroy was driving crashed on Barnett Shoals Road. Athens-Clarke County police responded to the one-vehicle crash at 2:45 a.m.

     On January 6, 2023, community leaders in 70 cities held events planned nationwide to highlight the ongoing threats to our freedoms and our vote. Bipartisan investigations by the U.S. House January 6 Select Committee have demonstrated that former President Donald Trump and his allies engaged in criminal conspiracy.

     In describing how those three evils crush opportunity for people in this country and abroad, Dr. King exposed the destructive ideas that have subsidized the American Experiment – that groups of people were disposable and that our wilderness was just as disposable. As a nation, we’re still dealing with the cost of that destruction of people and of forests, rivers, and air that was accepted for most of our history.

     As a youngster, especially one who struggled with a speech impediment, I thought great speeches were magic.

     As we begin to celebrate the hopes of a dream deferred, let us be mindful of the fact that we cannot appreciate the fulfillment of the dream unless we rid the temple of RATS.
