TheFlorida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County unites with people and communities worldwide as we observe World AIDS Day by showing support for people living with HIV and honoring those we have lost. The theme for the 2022 observance is “Putting Ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV.” 

On December 1, 2022, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., Care Resource is hosting a tribute to World AIDS Day with the theme, “Healing Through the Arts” on the rooftop of their Midtown Miami health center located at 3510 Biscayne Boulevard.

     CDC officials said the variant is mainly circulating through the northeastern part of the country, with more than 5% of infections in the regions from New Jersey through Maine linked to XBB, CBS News reported.

   Too many Black elected officials are too scared to serve, too scared to stand up and too scared to speak out.

   Trump’s 2016 presidential election and gala was reminiscent of the launching of the Titanic, labeled the unsinkable ship.  Regrettably, Captain Smith’s poor navigation led to the sinking of the Titanic. Having lost the 2020 presidential election, which was his second attempted voyage. Rather than this time sink the government, he ignited an insurrection and attempted to overthrow the government.

     Dystopia defined is a society characterized by intense human depravation, great suffering, and injustice controlled by totalitarian and dictatorial systems. Entities like the Republican Party in the U.S. promote war, racism, sexism, and white supremacy promote an end to social security, environmental protection,  continued burning of fossil fuels while they clearly exacerbate global warming,  end to federally subsidized housing programs, and closing U.S. national boundaries to the poor and people of color immigrants whose environments and economies have been wrecked by U.S. foreign and military policy. Refuges from collapsed oppressive societies are turned away from U.S. borders. They flee failed economies, especially in Central America, that are controlled by gangs.

     Due to economic determinants, education, geography, the environment, lower quality care, inadequate access to care, the inability to navigate systems, and other factors, many African Americans may be impacted by stress, but may not know the full extent of its impact on their overall health.

     In 1991 Dillard High School track phenom Jonathan Carter completed one of the most successful, electric and captivating athletic careers in Broward County history. Not only was he the Class 4-A state champion in the 100 meters, he also led the team to a second place finish at the state meet which catapulted him to accept a scholarship to FSU where he became a six- time All-American in the 100 and 200 meters and four by one relay.

     Black Ambition supports Black and Latino and Latina entrepreneurs with a series of prizes to underwrite strong ideas.
