    Broward AWARE! Protecting OUR Children wraps 2017 campaign with Family Fun and Resource Fair at Rev. Samuel Delevoe Park

    CSCBroward AWARE! Protecting OUR Children wraps 2017 campaign with Family Fun and Resource Fair at Rev. Samuel Delevoe Park

         LAUDERHILL, FL — All children deserve to live in communities where they are safe, nurtured, healthy and happy. The Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC) powers the Broward AWARE! Protecting OUR Children campaign, a four-month public awareness effort that ensures families, providers, media and other stakeholders receive and share resources that help prevent child abuse and neglect.

    The 2017 Campaign will culminate with a Family Fun and Resource Fair will be April 22, 2017 at the Rev. Samuel Delevoe Park, 2520 N.W. Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. https://www.facebook.com/events/433957180269045/

    Featuring community favorite Rodney Baltimore of Hot 105 emceeing and DJ Hercules of 99JAMZ, the event will also include free food, entertainment and resources from more than 40 service providers. Raffle prizes include passes to Universal Studios, bikes, toys, books and more. Bikers Against Child Abuse will provide children and adults opportunities to ride motorcycles and sport temporary tattoos and bandannas. A youth zone will provide participants opportunities to discuss issues related to teen dating safety and tips for preparing for the future. The YMCA of South Florida will be on hand with their Y-Fit activities and Dr. Adam Cherry and Seeing the World Clinic will provide free eye exams and eye-glasses if needed.

    Broward AWARE partners include: 2-1-1 Broward, ARC Broward, Broward Regional Health Planning Council, Nancy J. Cotterman Center, Broward County Family Success Center, Broward County Parks & Recreation, Broward County Public Schools, Broward Sheriff’s Office, ChildNet, Children’s Home Society, Children’s Services Council of Broward County, Department of Children and Families, Chrysalis Health, Community Access Center, Ft. Lauderdale Police Dept., Early Steps, Florida Dept. of Health in Broward County, Florida Impact, HANDY, Healthy Families, Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies, Jack & Jill Children’s Center,  Jamaica International Female Football Development Inc., KidSafe Foundation, Mt. Bethel Human Services, Ounce of Prevention Florida, Swim Central, SWIMS Foundation, YMCA of South Florida,  and more…

    The Children’s Services Council of Broward County is an independent taxing authority which was established by a public referendum on September 5, 2000, and was reauthorized on November 4, 2014, which, through Public Act, Chapter 2000-461 of the laws of Florida, authorized the Council to levy up to 0.5 mills of property taxes.

    The role of the Council is to provide the leadership, advocacy and resources necessary to enhance children’s lives and empower them to become responsible, productive adults through collaborative planning and funding of a continuum of quality care.
