The Broward County Chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) will celebrate the United Nations Day 70th Anniversary with a Scholarship and Awards Luncheon on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at 2 p.m., at the lnverrary Country Club, 3840 Inverrary Blvd, Lauderhill, Fla. Dr. Eileen Davis-Jerome, Lifetime UNA-USA Chapter Member and Communications Chair, reminds the public: “For 70 years, UNA-USA has been the leader in informing, inspiring, and mobilizing the American people in support of the ideals and vital work of the United Nations – and we’re having an impact in the 21st century that lives up to our rich history.”
The theme for United Nations Day 2013 is: “Why the World Still Needs the United Nations and How the United Nations Needs the World”. This year’s honorees include Mayor Richard J. Kaplan, Sandra Cachimbo, Abe A. Bailey, ESQ. O.B., Angelia Welber, Hazel Ambristor, Rev. Dan Adams, Joseph Walden, Marshall Davis, and Monequa Henley. There will be a guest speaker from The United Nations Foundation and musical entertainment by Lisa Richards and Claudine Marcelin. Admission is $40 per person- Children under 13, $30. Please respond as soon as possible.
The Broward Chapter is operated under the auspices of Dr. W. Blanca Moore-Velez, Charter President. Please make your tax deductable donation payable to: Broward County Chapter UNA-USA, and mail to 4851 NW 21 St., Suite 507, Lauderhill, Fla., Attention: Mr. Robert Velez, VP. Guest is invited to join the chapter for a special introductory rate of $25. The chapter welcomes opportunities to collaborate with other non-profit organizations, to further the goals of the United Nations Association. Organization membership is$40.
