Expanded hangar and training facility to accommodate 100 more students per semester

PEMBROKE PINES, FLA.–Broward College officials, VIPs and students last week celebrated the groundbreaking of expanded facilities, including a hangar and additional classroom space, at the Emil Buehler Aviation Institute. Funded by the Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust, the Jerry
Taylor &Nancy Bryant Foundation, The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation and the Batchelor Foundation, the expansion will open up significant space to serve more students in the burgeoning avionics field.
“All of us are well aware of the importance of the aviation industry to South Florida,” said Gregory Adam Haile, Esq., Broward College President. “I’m particularly grateful to these philanthropic individuals who had the foresight to help us move forward with this expansion. Their transformative gifts to the Emil Buehler Aviation Institute at Broward College will allow us to increase the number of students in our program by 50 percent, which in turn benefits our community as more qualified aviation technicians take their place in the workforce.”
“Today is truly a celebration of private philanthropy and the impact our benefactors have had on the development, growth and excellence in aviation at Broward College,” added Nancy O’Donnell-Wilson, Broward College Vice President for Advancement and Broward College Foundation Executive Director. “The philanthropic support we celebrate today will help us create an innovative 21st century avionics and aviation maintenance program that will be the envy of aviation programs throughout the nation.”
The expansion of the Emil Buehler Aviation Institute will encompass a 12,000 square-foot increase in hangar and training facility space to create an augmented educational
setting with a state-of-the-art Avionics Line Maintenance lab. These state-of-the-art facilities will enhance the experience and training of Broward College aviation students to better support their transition into high-demand aviation positions upon graduation.
