    FORT LAUDERDALE, FL –The Broward County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated has a long successful history of providing public service programs to the residents of Broward County. Since 1955, the Broward County Alumnae Chapter, through its Delta Education and Life Development Foundation (non-profit organization) has been providing an extensive array of public service initiatives through its Five Point Programmatic Thrust which consists of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.

The Broward County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated provides adolescent health and development programs, economic and social action initiatives, early childhood reading programs, tutorial programs; as well as providing college and vocational scholarship awards and recognizing those high school students who have excelled academically. Our sorority also holds multiple fundraising signature events throughout the year. Stay tuned for details on these events at a later date.

    The following is a list of our community service programs which are available for YOU:

Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

Economic Development

·  Financial Literacy Workshops

·  Community Economic Empowerment Seminars featuring local businesses

·  Educational Development

·  Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy-(Free Mentoring program for middle school girls) September 2013-June 2014

·  Dr. Jeanne Noble Delta GEMS (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully)- (Free Mentoring program for girls in grades 9-12th) September 2013-June 2014

·  Read America-April 2014 (Free Reading Festival for PK-12 grade students)

·  May Week- Award eligible applicants with college scholarships

·  EMBODI: Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence (Free mentoring program for young males)


International Awareness and Involvement

·  Continuously collect supplies and clothing for Haiti

Physical and Mental Health

·  Annual Family and Adolescent Health Conference-December 2013

Political Awareness and Involvement

·  Free Legal Clinic

·  Voter Registration and Education

·  Electoral Candidates Forum

·  Delta Days at the State Capitol

·  Delta Days at the Broward County Governmental Center

·  Delta Days at the School Board
