Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony files for 2020 election

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Today, Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony officially filed paperwork to qualify for the 2020 election.

“I am proud to officially qualify for election to lead the Broward Sheriff’s Office for four more years, as we continue the hard work of keeping our community safe, reforming this department, and holding our deputies to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability,” said Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony.

“In the past year and half, we have taken on violations of duty to protect against and prevent excessive force use with zero tolerance, brought on the most diverse command staff in the 105-year history of BSO, increased community policing, and worked to better prepare our staff with racial equity and implicit bias training and better equipment. The truth is that we have much work to do to move the agency forward from the failed leadership of my predecessor. Working together, I know we can continue making this office a model for the rest of the nation of how a great law enforcement agency should serve and protect its com-munity.”
