Can we move from pain to peace this Mother’s Day?

25 She is a strong person, and people respect her. She looks to the future with confidence. 26 She speaks with wisdom and teaches others to be loving and kind. 27 She oversees the care of her house. She is never lazy. 28 Her children say good things about her. Her husband brags about her and says, 29 “There are many good women, but you are the best.” 30 Grace and beauty can fool you, but a woman who respects the Lord should be praised.                       Proverbs 31:25-30 ERV

It’s kind a hard to wish a happy Mother’s Day when there is so much violence and the cold-blooded murdering of children.

Yes, there is gun violence but there’s also violence been perpetrated by our leaders in the legislators across the country.

I would rather fight the enemy that I can see, the ones that are carrying the weapons.  But the guns that the bill totters are passing as laws are just as deadly as the hideous armed gunman wreaking havoc in our communities.

If I were to reveal all the legislation passed by our governor to the detriment of the citizens of Florida and compared them to a time in history, we could find ourselves comparatively speaking, in a period where fascism, gas chambers, and hangman’s nooses were the order of the day.

Those would be the optics that cast shadows over the progress we’ve made in this country.

I ask myself how we fight this beast that is trying to send us backwards to chattel, overseers, and slave masters.

The overarching answer  that comes to my mind is to address those that support it. The financial backers that put monies in the coffers of these totalitarian acting governors and their sycophants .

These efforts would have to reach across oceans and continents to where people need to understand that their coming to such states  would  further the cause of oppression and exclusion.

Even the businesses that hide behind layers of deceit must be uncovered by not allowing our hard earn dollars to pay for their cloak of deception.

Once these things are done and there are steps put into place to bring a semblance of understanding and working together towards what this country could truly be, then Mother’s Day would be welcomed without the sad display of human carnage and  families being displaced – no homes, no insurance, no knowledge of our history, and no control of your own bodies – maybe then we can have a happy Mother’s Day.

However, in the meantime, I pray for peace, love and understanding and may this Mother’s Day live up to the true expectations of what Mother’s Day means.

     Happy Mother’s Day.
