Author Dr. Edmund H. Moore establishes a connection between the youngest generation and their elders in his latest book Village Wisdom for Our Youth through discussion of essential life skills, dissection of common problems, and the celebration of African American men. Dr. Moore discusses seven topics throughout his book: Relationships, Common Sense, Career Guidance, Financial Health, Faith in God, Community and Civic Engagement, and Personal Development.

     Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA) is proud to present Sleeping Beauty, an exhibition by acclaimed photographer Lydia Panas. Utilizing large format photography and video, Panas introduces viewers to women and girls in classical poses of vulnerability, while capturing their true powerful essence. This acclaimed exhibition incorporates the viewer as a participant in a way that is both mesmerizing and thought-provoking. The opening reception takes place on Friday, January 7, 2022, during Old Town Untapped, from 6 pm-10 pm.      The City Pompano Beach’s Public Art Committee recently held a dedication ceremony of a stunning bronze statue by artist Linda Serrao. The artwork entitled Le Corsaire depicts male ballet dancers in a graceful leap and now resides outside the Ali Cultural Arts Center. The Westside Gazette’s environmental writer Audrey Peterman has been selected to receive the National Park Conservation Association’s Centennial Leadership Award 2022, for her “role as an important and influential park advocate.” The Award will be presented at the organization’s Annual Salute to the Parks at the National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall in DC, on April 6, 2022.

      The Florida General Baptist Convention in conjunction with Florida Memorial University virtually celebrated the 65th Annual Donation Day on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Florida Memorial University, a private, coeducational, and Baptist-affiliated institution that has the distinction of being one of the oldest academic centers in the state, and the only Historically Black University in South Florida.

Earlier this week Edward Waters University (EWU) received formal notification from its accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), authorizing the university to offer a new Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Forensic Science. As such, the university plans to begin enrolling students in this exciting new academic degree program beginning in fall 2022. Traditionally, EWU has offered the B.A. degree program in Criminal Justice (with a concentration in Forensic Investigation) which has held strong interest amongst students and shown consistent enrollment and programmatic growth over the years

      The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is in full swing again. The Front Yard series of amazing concerts and musical presentations kicked off earlier this year and has now become an established locale for outdoor arts and entertainment.
