     “What manner of man is this?” The question is asked to suggest that the man steps out beyond the bounds of the ordinary. What manner of man is so committed to the youth of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County that he gave over half a century, in fact, sixty-five years of his  time, talent, love, and expertise to a school and its community? Coach Robert “Bob” Green was such a man. He is a “Man for All Seasons.”

The Greater Miami Conven-tion & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has appointed Graylyn Swilley-Woods, Ph.D., as the new director of the GMCVB’s Black Hospitality Initiative (BHI). In her new position, she will be responsible for leading BHI’s mission of advancing opportunities and increasing workforce participation for African Americans and Black people of African descent in Greater Miami and Miami Beach’s visitor industry through scholarships, talent development and job referral programs.

     Michael Parker is an accomplished and driven leader in Environmental and Support Services, with a proven history of overseeing healthcare centers and clinical services operations to ensure effective and quality patient care. He has over thirty years of experience in management, twenty of those years being in healthcare contract management with various responsibilities in environmental services, linen, food services, hotels, concierge, and transport.

Black Influence on Miami Art Week

     Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is investigating the shooting that occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., Sunday at the outdoor basketball courts in the 2100 block of Wahnish Way near the Hansel Tookes Recreation Center, which was closed at the time.  One victim, an adult male, died as a result of this shooting. Four other victims, one juvenile male and three adult males, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

World AIDS Museum and Educational Center and Galleria Fort Lauderdale are collaborating to honor World AIDS Day with an official public event designed to raise awareness and voices in unison for global health. The public is invited on Thursday, December 1, at 8:30 a.m., to participate in an official kickoff ceremony in honor of World AIDS Day at Galleria Fort Lauderdale (2414 E. Sunrise Blvd.). Attendees are encouraged to register in advance at WAM’s Rock The Ribbon page.

     Peter scurried through the dirt at Fort Lauderdale High School and watched as Lori Alhadeff of District 5, Jeff Holness of District 5, Brenda Fam of District 6, Nora Rupert of District 7 and Allan Zeman of the countywide, at-large seat were all sworn in for their respective School Board seats.

Typically, Americans will spend the day with their families or a group of friends, giving thanks for life, breath, the food we eat, the friends we have, the blessings they have in their lives.
