Now, thanks to The Smash pot, the only rage room in Miami, you can. Located in North Miami Beach, The Smash Spot is an attraction designed for customers to constructively channel their emotions in a destructive way. Patrons get their own rooms and full protective gear to smash away at dishes, household items and electronics, all guilt-free. While it may seem like just a fantasy come true for some people, for owner Vanessa Cashmere, it all started from her own reality.

Once again, voter disenfranchisement is real and every time we take a step forward, we take two steps back. If we all go out and vote, we can make change. I know it may be hard to do so, but we have to.

     On March 11, 2020, The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak a global pandemic. It was the beginning of the end of normality in the lives of Americans. It has only been seven months since this declaration but already we speak nostalgically about our lives “before COVID,” as if they existed in some distant past.

     As Election Day nears several influential individuals across different spaces are using their platforms to spread awareness about voter suppression and ensure that people within the Black community exercise their right to vote. Among those is entertainment mogul Tyler Perry. According to BET, Perry recently funded an initiative designed to mobilize African American voters in Florida.

     BlakPAC, a federally-registered “Super PAC” (political action committee), is spearheading an initiative urging all candidates, political parties, political action committees, and donors to take “The Art Fletcher Pledge” to commit to spending ten percent of their funding, revenues, or both with Black-owned and businesses and financial institutions.

      Sen. Kamala Harris gave Amy Coney Barrett an expert level history lesson on the history of America suppressing Black people‘s ability to vote, and the judge seemed ambivalent to it all. It was another telling moment during the week-long grilling by senators during Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill.
