By Soror Kenyeta R. Pino

Chi Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. would like to congratulate our new 2020-2021-chapter president, Soror Joel Daniell McCray. Soror Joel is a woman of character who demonstrates essential qualities of leadership, service and sisterly love. Soror Joel was initiated by Chi Psi Omega (CPO) in 2007 where she continues to dedicate endless efforts to support target programs, chapter initiatives, and her surrounding communities. Since becoming a member of CPO, she has served in multiple capacities. Soror Joel’s most recent roles were Chairman of the Leadership Development Committee and Chaplain of the Spiritual Oversight Committee.

Outside of her commitment to Alpha Kappa Alpha, Soror Joel is a transformative educator. For 23 years, she continues to exercise her expertise in teaching and mentoring to ensure students are academically engaged, developing mentally, and growing into profound individuals who will impact society in a positive manner. Educators who are devoted to their profession possess qualities of leadership. Educators are individuals who strive to produce success for all.

To carry out her term, Soror Joel launched a new theme titled S.H.I.N.E. – Spiritual Sisters Healing Individuals while Nurturing Excellence.

To help deploy this new approach, Soror Joel is accompanied by our new 1st Anti-Basileus, Soror Cheryl Waide, and our new 2nd Anti-Basileus, Soror Antionece Robinson. Together, these ladies will commit their time and energy, set provisions, and couple their talents to uphold the chapter’s new concept. Soror Joel created S.H.I.N.E to remind all Sorors we are rays of light, which are women of resilience, women who engender happiness, and women who work to pro-duce a colorful world when un-broken. Her message teaches us to shine a light on others and in our reflection, we will see a leader.

Soror Joel, you have earned this great distinction and we are confident you will lead CPO to greater heights of excellence. We are proud to have you and even more proud you chose this chapter to exemplify your greatness. Again, congratulations on this exciting opportunity as Basileus. We look forward to your leadership and guidance for the new year.
