North Broward County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is excited to invite the community to attend its second annual Denim & Diamonds Dancing for a Cause friendraiser. It is expected to be a sell-out event again this year and features a slate of local “celebrity” dancers that include: Gregory Haile, general counsel and VP at Broward College; Cindy Seltzer, CEO of Children’s Services Council of Broward; Miramar Commissioner Wayne Messam; Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Bobby DuBose; Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness, and former beauty queen Kaylan Chapman, the first Black Ms. Alabama, and many others.

Celebrity judges include Gale Butler of Auto Nation; Danielle Knox, host of Lifetime TV’s The Balancing Act and former CBS co-anchor; Sheriff Al Lamberti, and Nicole Keane, former Heat Dancer and Miami Dolphin cheerleader, along with other NFL players. Dance contestants will compete for first, second, and third place awards. Last year’s second place winners, Senator Christopher Smith and Desorae Giles Smith, will serve as celebrity emcees for this highly anticipated affair.

The event will be held on Oct. 27, 2012 at the Signature Grand in Davie, Fla.

The evening starts with a reception at 6 p.m. that will feature live entertainment by B&S Entertainment, hot hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction of unique items, such as resort stays, limousine services and VIP cooking classes with celebrity chefs. The program includes a sit down dinner and a night of enjoyment of live music and dancing. Tickets include complimentary valet parking.

Chapter President, Linda Houston Jones, exclaims, “We were so excited to host this awe-some event to raise more awareness in the community of the North Broward County Chapter of the Links and to raise money to support programs that help our county’s youth and families.”  Proceeds will be used to support its Girls on the Move program that teaches middle school girls healthy eating and nutrition, senior health fair, and youth tutoring and mentoring programs as well as many other community service projects.

Event co-chairs Sheri Brown, Dr. Alison DeSouza, and Tamashia Buckner all agree, “This will be a festive evening that you would not want to miss! Guests will witness a fierce dance competition and have the opportunity to dance the night away to the latest tunes.”

Sponsorship opportunities are still available at various levels.
