Days after the on-field cardiac arrest, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin expressed gratitude on Instagram, asking for continued prayers for a “long road” ahead. “When you put genuine love out into the world, it returns threefold,” he wrote in his first Instagram post since his collapse on Monday. “The love has been overwhelming, but I’m grateful to everyone who has prayed for me and reached out to me.” “If you know me, you know this is only going to strengthen me,” he added. Hamlin is breathing on his own and communicating with family, doctors, and teammates, which Bills players say will help them prepare for this weekend’s game against the New England Patriots. After being sedated and placed on a ventilator following his collapse, Hamlin began to awaken later in this week and was able to have his breathing tube removed. The NFL announced Thursday that the Bills-Bengals game, which was originally rescheduled for Monday night, will not be rescheduled or made up. The cancellation has no bearing on which teams make the playoffs, as both the Bills and Bengals have already qualified.
