    Don’t miss Elder’s Day celebration!

On Sunday, May 19, 2013 the Ninth annual Elders Celebration will take place at Delevoe Park, 2520 NW Sixth St.

The theme of this year’s program is Return To Our Elders: A Day of Giving. The event is sponsored by Caring and Partnership, Inc. under the leadership of Sister Amatula Thomas. Other supporters of the event include Boyd Funeral Homes, Dr.Rey in Coral Springs, Westside Gazette, and the Holistic Arts Center.

The purpose of the event is to honor and pamper the elders in our community with activities such as back massages, foot bathing, yoga, and performances by children. Delicious food, gift bags and t-shirts will be provided as well.

All elderly and their family members are invited to attend. The event is free of charge and will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  As Sister Amatula puts it, this day is a wonderful opportunity to “establish a connection between the young and elderly.”

High school students seeking community service hours are encouraged to attend, serve and be blessed in return.

For those elderly who may need assistance getting to the park, transportation will be provided, simply contact Sister Amatula at (954) 297-8593.

This year’s event promises to be memorable and enjoyable for all. So mark your calendars, load up mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, auntie &uncle and show up!
