Carey Green Jr. and Christopher Green have defied the odds so heavily set against young Black men in this city and country.
Carey Jr. will graduate from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine this Saturday, May 13, 2023. Christopher Green will receive his Juris Doctorate degree from The New York Law School on May 25th, 2023.
Carey Jr. and Christopher are the sons of the late Dr. Carey Green, Sr. and Dr. Dollie Green, a board-certified kidney specialist. Dr. Dollie Green is presently on the faculty of the Florida International University School of Medicine.
Kourtney Green, twin brother of Christopher, is pursuing post graduate studies at Barry University.
The young Green men have defied the odds which confront most men of color.
Both of their parents were trailblazers in Miami Dade County themselves. Drs. Carey and Dollie Green were both graduates of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, class of 1981.
The late Dr. Carey Green, Sr. was the first Black interventional cardiologist in Miami Dade County. Dr. Dollie Green was previously on the faculty of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Carey Jr. and Christopher have not only done well, but exceptionally well.
They shine as a bright light for the community and are role models for younger Black men.
May their light grow even brighter as they embark on their respective careers.
They have made their parents, friends and this community proud.
Carey Jr. is the second Black legacy graduate from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Carey Jr. will be joining Dr. Alexandria Poitier, class of ‘20, the first Black legacy graduate (daughter of Dr. Joseph Poitier, class of ’80).
Carey Jr. will be entering the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Morehouse College School of Medicine.
