Florida A&M University (FAMU) alumna and ESPN announcer Tiffany Greene will deliver the keynote address at the 2022 Homecoming Convocation.

The event, a highlight of The Experience/FAMU Homecoming 2022, will begin at 10:10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, at the Al Lawson Multipurpose Center, 1800 Wahnish Way, Tallahassee. The event is free and open to the public.

“Tiffany Greene is a pioneer and a role model. Her broadcasting career demonstrates to legions of young women  what’s possible when you combine passion, hard work and an HBCU education. We look forward to hearing her words of inspiration,” said FAMU President Larry Robinson, Ph.D.

Greene, a graduate of the FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication,  is a barrier-breaking play-by-play commentator for ESPN. She is the first African American woman to serve as a play-by-play commentator for college football on a major network.

At ESPN, Greene covers a variety of collegiate sports including football, basketball, softball, and volleyball.  She has called games for the WNBA and NBA G-League, along with several postseason contests including the FCS Playoffs, Division II Football National Championship, and the NCAA Women’s Division I Basketball Tournament.

“It is such a humbling honor to be tapped as this year’s Homecoming Convocation speaker,” Greene said. “FAMU has always had my heart, and I am absolutely overjoyed to return home to a place that raised me.”

Greene originally began working with ESPN as a college football sideline reporter in 2012. In addition to covering a number of bowl games, she also served as a sideline reporter at the Women’s College World Series.

Before joining ESPN, Greene honed her skills as a commentator and reporter at Bright House Sports Network in the Orlando and Tampa Bay markets. During that time, she was the play-by-play announcer for the inaugural season of Big East women’s basketball on Fox Sports 1.

She is the recipient of the 2021 Dawn Staley Excellence in Broadcasting Award and the FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication Distinguished Alumni Award.  Greene also serves on the School’s Board of Visitors.  She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Links Incorporated.

She lives in Tampa with her husband, Aaron Berry, and their sons, Bryson and Aaron “Deuce.”

FAMU Homecoming runs from Saturday, Oct. 22 to Sunday, Oct. 30. For the schedule of events, visit http://homecomingatfamu.com/
