TALLAHASSEE, FL – This week’s episode of Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) MMERI Forum Radio features members of the faith-based community talking about medical marijuana in the aftermath of a recent meeting of religious leaders discussing the fledgling industry.

The program features Elder Erta Livingston, Ph.D., director of patient services, and chaplain, UF Health Shands, and Elder Jon Lonon, ordained minister and entrepreneur with their interpretation of miracles, myths and medicine as it relates to medical marijuana.

Co-hosting this week’s show are Angela Hardiman, MMERI public affairs liaison, and Patricia Green-Powell, Ph.D., MMERI interim executive director.

MMERI Forum Radio is a half-hour weekly radio program that airs on Friday and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on FAMU’s WANM Radio 90.5 FM in Tallahassee and Gadsden counties; Friday at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on WILD Radio 95.5 FM in West Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast and Sunday at 7 a.m. on WHBX Radio 96.1 in Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson and Wakulla counties.

The program is also available 24/7 on the iHeart podcasting platform and on the MMERI website at: http://mmeri.famu.edu/podcasts/.

MMERI Forum Radio is an expansion of its successful community forums designed to inform and educate the public about medical marijuana and the impact of the unlawful use of marijuana on Florida’s diverse communities. The initial programming consists of an 8-episode series featuring conversations with pastors, law enforcement, legislators, pharmacists and medical doctors discussing medical marijuana and marijuana.

MMERI was launched following the Florida Legislature’s authorization for the University to establish an initiative to educate “minorities about marijuana for medical use and the impact of the unlawful use of marijuana on minority communities.”
