FAMU NAA Broward Chapter Joins FAMU Spring Preview 2024: A Gateway to Excellence

    TALLAHASSEE FL — The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Spring Preview 2024 proved to be an extraordinary event, drawing over 3000 eager prospective students from across the nation. Hosted at the iconic Al Lawson Multipurpose Center & Teaching Gymnasium, the event offered a comprehensive glimpse into the renowned academic and cultural landscape of FAMU.

The primary aim of the Spring Preview was to acquaint prospective juniors, seniors, and transfer students with the array of outstanding degree programs FAMU offers. From the moment attendees arrived, excitement filled the air as they eagerly awaited registration and embarked on guided tours across FAMU’s illustrious campus, perched atop the highest of seven hills in Tallahassee, Florida.

Upon concluding the campus tours, participants were greeted by distinguished figures including FAMU President, Dr. Larry Robinson; Mrs. FAMU 2023-24, Kendall Johnson; Vice President Division of Student Affairs, Dr. William Hudson, Jr., Ph.D.; and Admission Director, Mr. Hugh Durham. Additionally, an enlightening entrance workshop titled “What do you need to know,” facilitated by 2023 Orientation Leader, Joshua Douglas, provided invaluable insights for prospective students and parents alike.

Adding to the vibrancy of the occasion, special performances by the renowned FAMU Marching “100” Band captivated attendees, showcasing the university’s rich cultural heritage and artistic prowess.

Subsequently, attendees were divided into groups and guided through various schools and institutes, offering a firsthand look into FAMU’s diverse academic offerings. From the School of Nursing and College of Engineering (FAMU-FSU)  to the College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences Institute of Public Health, from the School of Business and Industry, College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities  to the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication, College of Education and School of Architecture and Engineering Technology, participants gained invaluable insights into the educational opportunities awaiting them at FAMU.

The event culminated in a jubilant “Be Out Day” sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA), featuring an array of free food, music, and refreshments for all attendees. It was a fitting conclusion to a day filled with exploration, learning, and camaraderie.

The FAMU National Alumni Association (NAA) Broward Chapter extends heartfelt gratitude to all parents and students for their enthusiastic participation in this enriching experience. Special commendation is owed to FAMU NAA Broward Chapter President, Ms. Patricia Shaw, and her dedicated team including event planner and chaperones Mr. & Mrs. Terence (Twyler) Ferguson, Barbara Freeman, Keturah Mitchell, Katura Thomas, Charlottee Shipman-Smith, and Natoya Knights-Williams for their unwavering commitment to making the event a resounding success.

As the curtains draw on FAMU Spring Preview 2024, the FAMU NAA Broward Chapter eagerly awaits the opportunity to welcome new Rattlers to the esteemed “Hill in 2024,” where excellence knows no bounds.
