“There is nothing more beautiful than a flower in full bloom – so it is with our girls when they blossom in their full potential,” says Jackie Jordan MA, (licensed Mental Health Counselor), the author of her new children’s book, “Milani and Friends.”  The book is dedicated to her granddaughter, Milani, and all of the Queens, young and old, who has inspired her throughout this wonderful journey called life.

As a licensed mental health therapist, Jackie has worked with children, adolescents’ teens, adults, couples, and families, and there is nothing more important than for children to grow up with a positive sense of self. It starts very young in life and must be strengthened and nurtured by parents, caregivers, teachers, and friendships. Being a proud young girl of color, confidence, and a high level of self-esteem helps you to succeed.

Children say mean and hurtful things to each other sometimes, but true friends stick together. Parents must meet their children’s friends, know their parents, go out together, for group activities. Milani and Friends should be in every young girls library, because growing up with social media, many children are confused, and don’t have conversations with their parents.

In the section of the book entitled, “A Note for Parents, caregivers, and Teachers,” author Jackie Jordan challenges the parents to ask children questions, “Why Janet is your friend, or what makes Monica your friend?” The artistic illustrations make you want to open the book and the smiles makes the reader smile.  Jackie’s passion is working with young girls in helping them to identify their positive strengths and talents, to build their self-worth, and self-esteem.

Milani and Friends is a children’s book for the times, and is geared to ages four to eight years old, and is now available for purchase on line or Amazon. Visit Jackie Jordan Corner.com or contact her at authorjackiejordan@gmail.com, for information on how to get larger orders of copies with a discount. “I give thanks praise and glory to my God, and my mission is to foster self-love, find respect from others, and achieve success for the common good.”
