Hastings on National Teacher Day and Teacher Appreciation Week

      Washington D.C. — Recently, Congressman Alcee Hastings (D-FL) issued the following statement in recognition of National Teacher Day and Teacher Appreciation Week:

     “We owe a debt of gratitude to teachers all across this nation, who play a critical role of ensuring that students are receiving a quality education.” 

     “I want to commend all educators in my Congressional district, that I am honored to represent, for their hard work and dedication to this profession.”

     “By investing in our children’s future, we are investing in the future of our nation.  Teachers are the foundation of that investment.  They inspire our youth, and provide the skills they need to succeed in life.” 

      “I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress, as well as teachers, students, parents, and school administrators, so that together, we can preserve and protect our nation’s educational system.”

Congressman Alcee L. Hastings serves as Senior Member of the House Rules Committee, Ranking Democratic Member of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and Democratic Chairman of the Florida Delegation.
